The complete absence of contact with the specimen let this instrument be a true universal extensometer suitable to measure the deformation of any kind of material or finished components in mono or bidirectional mode (tensile, compression, flexure, cycle). 

As an option, a software modue is also available for simultaneous measurement of longitudinal and transverse deformation (see details below).
